It is cold. The calendar says November 7, but in Florida terms: “We’re in winter”. Last weekend, the temperature plummeted 20 degrees bringing with it the first snowfall of the fall season. The many windows and tiles in my apartment don’t make for a very warm and cozy environment. I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands: buy a space heater. Again this leads me to the vocabulary dilemma. Questions I should ask: how much power does this take? How long will it last? Is it safe?
So, after “How much is it?” and “I want that”, I lugged my new space heater home. And I do mean lugged. Walking 10 minutes home from Vanguard seemed like 20 or 30. I longed for my car, or even a donkey or something else to carry it.
Now, things are warmer and cozier. I’m just hoping I don’t blow out the electricity.
