If a Facebook application called "What Little House on the Prairie character are you?" existed, I'd be fairly certain my result would be Laura "halfpint" Ingalls. Scratch that. After living overseas for a year and attempting to cook from "scratch", I realized I am more Nelly Olson than "halfpint". Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy learning to cook and bake, but I must confess that those women who roamed the prairie had some mad cooking skills and deserve crazy praise! Playing Oregon Trail in Mr. Brede's typing class and attempting to actually make things "au natural" are completely different. Here are the fruits of my baking labors last weekend: cooked pumpkin and applesauce. Up next: homemade pumpkin pie just in time for Thanksgiving.
