Changed For the Better

In a fortuitous moment, my friends and I scored orchestra seats for Wicked on its opening night in Orlando. Though I'd seen it before, I knew that one particular song and dance would leave me a bit "verklempt" as Linda Richmand would say. "Here's the topic--Why did the producers of Wicked not have Elphaba sing 'It's Not Easy Being Green'? Discuss". Pardon my side bar, but I guess I'm just avoiding having to get all emotional and sappy. As I work through the details of moving and leaving Florida, I find myself really understanding the words "I have been changed for the better....because I knew you I have been changed for good." The first time I heard this song was when my Camp China teammates sung it at our Broadway night and how applicable it was then, yet as I load up memories and moments of hilarity I find its meaning hitting me a thousand times over.
