Growing up on a farm affords one with many opportunities to appreciate the intricacies of nature. Though I lived miles from any skyscrapers, industrial beauty also takes my breath away. As I rode the bus into Hong Kong last week and gazed upon the inky hills behind the harbor, my eyes took pleasure in the dark sky peppered with outlines of skyscrapers and floors of lights and neon displays: a marvel of metal, industry and man’s ingenuity.
