Never Be the Same

I love many of the David Crowder* Band’s songs; I’ve referenced many in several blog posts before, but there’s one I keep coming back to: “The Glory of It All”. While reading Breaking Free this morning, it once again popped into my mind. In “Hearts Broken by Loss” Beth Moore writes,
“But the life of a Christian is never about sameness. It’s always about change. That’s why we must learn to survive and once again thrive when change involves heartbreaking loss. We’re being conformed to the image of Christ. When our hearts are hemorrhaging with grief and loss, never forget that Christ binds and compresses them with a nail-scarred hand” (135).
While reading that and thinking about an Easter service a few hours later in the morning, the Crowder lyrics echoed in my head, so I cued it up on my iPod. The song encompasses the idea of the Son’s rescuing and repairing ministry. The part I absolutely love is the end of the song. It consistently builds tempo, but at the end it begins to crescendo all the more and the following words repeat:
Oh, everything will change
Things will never be the same
We will never be the same
Oh, everything will change
Things will never be the same
We will never be the same
Essentially then, there is a GREAT hope in change, in that we WILL never be the same. We WILL be moved to a place where we pose a greater likeness to the Son. Hallelujah.
