The Music in my Mind

I’ve started to listen to my iPod while shopping. This is dangerous as it allows me to escape into my own little musical world. A few Saturdays ago, I was cruising down the aisles of Vanguard while listening to a Mariah Carey Christmas album (laugh if you will, but it’s catchy!). At one point I caught myself no longer singing along in my head, but actually singing out loud. I was ready for the Vanguard staff to start riding carts down the aisle and to join in on the musical parade. When I turned my music off to pay the cashier, “Chim Chim Cheree” from Mary Poppins was playing. If only a band of tap dancers broke it down at the end of the check-out line. Ah, if life were like a musical, people would always have their tap shoes handy and every cloud would have a silver lining.
