I Wouldn't Survive Frontier Life
When I was younger, two of my favorite computer games were Where in the World is Carmen San Diego and The Oregon Trail. If I were truly living on the Oregon Trail, I don't think I'd make it. Why has this even come across my mind lately? Since Thursday night, my building has been without running water. Thankfully our landlord has provided us with a spicket (sp?) to retrieve water for our household needs. As I've carried water up to my fourth floor apartment over the last few days, I'm realizing how tough life must have been without modern conveniences whether it's running water or electricity. I've also realized how wasteful I can be. When I have to retrieve my own water, I ration it out but really I should conserve on a regular basis. I'd imagine that there are many places throughout the world where people don't have access to the things that I do. It's put things into a new perspective.
